FCRR would like to thank our 2016–2017 Undergraduate Research Scholars
The FCRR scholars cohort is comprised of sophomore students participating in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (Joshua Etienne, Rachel Faircloth, & Rachel Odell) and the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (Chassidi Jenkins). Our scholars provided technical support for research activities and projects conducted by the Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast and the National Comprehensive Center on Improving Literacy for Students with Disabilities. Scholars also engaged in a collaborative exploratory research project designed to identify strategies used to disseminate relevant policies, research, evidence-based resources and practices to support parent engagement for diverse learners. The scholars presented a poster of their collaborative project at FCRR’s Showcase of Literacy Research & Innovation and will participate in Florida State University’s 17th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. We would like to thank Drs. La’Tara O. Lampkin, Yaacov Petscher, and Christopher Stanley for serving as faculty mentors. We would also like to thank Mr. James Cole and Mr. Nathan Archer for their support.
The Florida Center for Reading Research is a multidisciplinary research center at Florida State University that explores all aspects of reading research — basic research into literacy-related skills for typically developing readers and those who struggle, studies of effective prevention and intervention, and psychometric work on formative assessment.
